IIS, LLC is jointly owned by Alexander Shmid, Principal of ECL and Gene Josephs CEO of GSS. Alexander Shmid has majority ownership at 51%.
The development organization for IIS, LLC is located in Moscow and is under the direction of ECL and its mainframe virtual development and support team lead by Slava Naumov. This development relationship is a result of the majority ownership position of Alexander Shmid and ECL. This relationship is formalized in an Agreement between the principal parties.
The development team has been continuously enhancing the ISX product since IIS, LLC was formed in 4th quarter 1999. The development team has evolved the ISX product from support System 390 operating system and related applications through zOS called zISX and recently pISX which operates the latest zOS releases on the IBM pSeries.
Summary
IIS, LLC is very excited to share with you information and a new solution that can improve your use of IBM operating systems and their guest applications. Our solution is closely linked to IBM's strategic operating system, z/OS.
We are now offering a new zSeries Systems Software Product. This offering is called zISX (Interpretative Systems Executive for zOS). zISX facilitates:
- migration to zOS for zVSE and VSE/ESA customers and any other customers who operate IBM S/370, S/390, or zSeries Operating Systems, and
- ability to consolidate UNIX server solutions on a zLinux platform operating as a guest of zOS
The key that distinguishes zISX is that IBM S/370, S/390, and zSeries Operating Systems can now operate as a z/OS TASK. The resulting benefits are those that generally accrue to tasks of zOS applications:
- improved batch and online performance
- higher level of security
- new I/O support
- System Managed Storage (SMS)
- use of zOS networking
- dynamic resource allocation and resource efficiency
- Work Load Manager
- Job Scheduling/Automation Programs
The specific operating systems supported by zISX as a TASK of zOS include:
- S/370----DOS, MVS/SP, VM/370, AIX/370, TPF/370 and DPPX
- S/390----VSE/ESA, OS/390, AIX/390, TPF/390 and now Linux/390
- zSeries---zVSE, zOS, zLinux
- Any stand alone S/370, S/390, or zSeries applications
zISX was developed in Russia to meet specific customer needs. ISX is presently operating at more than twenty major Russian customer installations. The product is fully supported by IIS, LLC with an existing technical staff of 20 and a 24 X 7 online help desk including US based technical and Level 1 support. It will generally take less than 3 days to learn how to operate and install zISX and the guest operating system in a complete operational environment.
We have a signed IBM Software Remarketing Agreement for the ISX product line. It is priced at approximately 15% of the zOS software base license. The annual VSE/ESA end user license fee for ISX is MSU based and for the MP3000 ranges from $20,000 to $35,000.
An example of ISX's robustness is IBM's initial support for the DPPX/370 version of ISX. On Feb 2, 1999 IBM EMEA announced via Announcement Letter ZP990208, ISX/DPPX for OS/390. This version of ISX allows DDPX/370 to run as a TASK of OS/390. This product is successfully installed in Germany at the Hella Company plus it is in test at other large German customer installations.
Within this site is additional information that describes zISX, our work in launching a worldwide ISX VSE/ESA marketing program with the major IBM zSeries Business Partners worldwide and a consultant's testimonial about using ISX to migrate VSE/ESA to OS/390. ISX should make VSE to zOS migrations much easier, faster and potentially less expensive. zISX implementation could lead to customers installing the latest zSeries systems from IBM.
IBM has agreed to apply the Workload Transition Offering (WTO) to eliminate double operating systems pricing for the standard three-year offering period. Working with the IBM zSeries Server Division's Solution Partnership Center, we successfully performed a Functional Test of ISX in a VSE/ESA environment, March 2000. (See section on Functional Test.) We have launched a formal worldwide marketing program, which should enhance your capability to exploit zOS. Our ability to operate zLinux as a task of zOS should open up new opportunities for all of us, including the exploitation of all of the latest features of Oracle for zLinux
Please use this site to better understand this exciting new and innovative product. Working closely with the major IBM zSeries Business Partners, we have launched a worldwide program to help you exploit zISX. See "How To Get Started".
Thank you for your consideration

What is zISX?
ISX - Interpretative Space Executive
- A zOS systems interface program that creates one or more high performing, zSeries resource sharing, virtual zSeries, S/390, or S/370 machines that operate as a TASK of zOS.
- Any zSeries, S/390, or S/370 operating systems, except for zVM and VM/ESA, together with their applications, can be executed flawlessly in each created virtual machine. Multiple diverse Operating Systems can operate simultaneously. Performance for each operating system and the related application programs should improve as a zOS task.
- Supports: DOS/370, MVS/SP, VM/370, DPPX, TPF, VSE/ESA, OS/390, AIX/370, Linux/390, zVSE, zOS, zLinux, plus any other zSeries S/390 or S/370 based Operating System.
- Supports multiple machines operating simultaneously under the rules of zOS task management, achieving all zOS task benefits.
- As a zOS task, zISX has important customer related advantages over VM and LPAR. (See ISX Compared to VM and LPAR).
- Operational today in 20+ large Russian commercial and government installations.
- IBM EMEA Announcement Letter ZP99-0208, Feb. 2, 1999 - ISX/DPPX for OS/390. This product is successfully installed in Germany at the Hella Company plus it is in test at several other German installations.
- Signed IBM Software Remarketing Agreement, dated: November 6, 1998 between IBM and IIS. Presently, other then DPPX, there is no other active IBM sponsored marketing programs for ISX.
- Customers can continue to run non-zOS operating systems as a task of zOS without being forced to convert, e.g., legacy VSE/ESA applications.
- Excellent migration tool to allow customers to migrate from "old" operating system environment to zOS (See ISX Compared to VM and LPAR and consultant's testimonial).
- For customers who have partially migrated from "old" environment to zOS using VM, can now replace VM sooner, saving on related VM costs.
- Set up for migration from "old" operating system environment to zOS environment using zISX will take less then three days.
- Allows new E-Commerce Applications to directly exchange data associated with the "old" non-zOS operating systems applications.
- Easier to grow zSeries usage for IBM's non-zOS customers once they have migrated or partially migrated to the zOS Platform.
- Unique IBM competitive solution vs. AMDAHL, FUJITSU, HITACHI & EMC: zISX migration offering is planned only for IBM tested zOS configuration on an IBM platform that you select.
- Major efficiencies and competitive advantage for Outsourcing Companies and very large Corporate Data Centers.
- zISX supports a Parallel SYSPLEX environment and the simultaneous operation of a variety of different IBM operating systems and release levels.
- For installed zOS users, many advantages including operating zOS test systems and zLinux as guests of zOS.
